A Samford-based business is putting safety first when it comes to keeping homes cool ahead of summer.
Earthsafe Energy, a family owned and operated business dedicated to environmentally friendly energy saving solutions, has been in the climate control business for more than 10 years.
With Earthsafe Energy’s trademark being quality service and high workmanship standards, business owner Dave Aldrick, pictured, knows human safety is paramount.
“We are clearly aware of the Electrical Safety Office recent warnings of the dangers regarding foil insulation that is stapled into your roof,” Dave said.
“A recent death, which is presently under investigation, is thought to have been caused when an installer stapled foil insulation through a live cable in a roof.
“This can also mean other items in your home such as gutters (and) downpipes could also be live and a potential danger to inhabitants. By having electricians on our team, we make sure that all electrical safety issues are addressed and insulation is kept the regulation distance away from any heat objects.
“We are also aware of the risks associated with doing work in people’s roofs that have foil already installed. Electricians must go through a risk identifying process to make sure the roof isn’t live before they start work in a space that has insulation installed.”
Dave has done considerable research into different types of insulation and what is best for value and safety. Earthsafe uses polyester batts, which are easy to move if more work needs to be undertaken in a roof, such as having lights or fans installed.
“Our polyester roof batts are supplied by Tontine and are made from recycled plastic,” Dave said. “It is user friendly and, unlike fibreglass, you do not need gloves and masks for handling. Polyester has a lifetime guarantee and will not break down or lose shape as some insulation can.”
Dave said there was no better time than now to beat the heat, with the Federal Government offering both homeowners and landlords a rebate of $1200 for the installation of ceiling insulation.
“Landlords are eligible to have all their homes insulated to make their tenants more comfortable for the hotter temperatures this summer,” Dave said.
Dave said Earthsafe Energy, part of the electrical and air-conditioning industry for more than a decade, prided itself on much of its business being referrals from customers “who are happy with the work we have done for them”.
“If you would like a quote for air conditioning, we can help you there as well,” he said, adding the company was looking to expand into solar panel installation.
