Edward Draper from Delaneys Creek and Riley Foale from D'Aguilar enjoy the fun at last year’s Mt Mee Community Country Market and Auction.
A church in a mountain top community has dedicated itself to making local youth feel on top of the world.
The Mountain Top Community Church at Mt Mee will use money raised from its country market and auction on 24 July to support the church’s youth programs.
Pastor John Lind said the church was a focal group for the region’s young people, providing youth groups, kids clubs, family fun days, camps and annual Christmas carols.
“There’s nothing for the kids up here to do apart from us,” Mr Lind said.
Last year’s auction raised $6000 for the local community, with the pastor noting: “we’re hoping to do that or better again”.
Items up for grabs include collectables, glassware, china, art deco and household goods, farm machinery and equipment, tools and building materials.
The event will also feature a jumping castle, wood chopping and antique cars display.
“It’s really a day out that the community really loves,” Mr Lind said.
Mr Lind said money raised from the auction would also help complete the construction of a new church at Settlement Road, set to open later this year.
The Mt Mee Community Country Market and Auction is on at Mt Mee Showground, Thomas Road, Mt Mee on 24 July from 8am to 2pm. Phone 3425 3198.
