Samford Golden Valley Pony Club member, Allegra Frunz, is raising money for Riding for the Disabled (RDA) Queensland and its local centre at the Samford Showgrounds.

The 14-year-old is holding a ‘Morning Tea in the Country’ on Friday and a ‘Garage Sale and Mini Fair’ on 18 August, as part of the Pony Club Association of Queensland Personality Quest.

Allegra’s mother, Gen, said her daughter has been riding since she was a baby and grabbed the opportunity to help the RDA.

“She’s very sensitive and accepting of people with disabilities,” Mrs Frunz said.

“When that personality quest came up I said, ‘look, here’s an opportunity’, and she just grabbed it.”

Samford RDA spokesperson Kerry Hill said it is great to see kids helping people who are less fortunate than them.

“We don’t get any government assistance, so any sort of fundraising is really welcome,” she said.

Samford RDA is hoping to raise enough money to be able to cover its arena.

“Unfortunately, the weather does  play a big role for us,” Ms Hill said.

“We wouldn’t put kids on horses when it’s wet or slippery and the same when it’s hot.”

Morning Tea in the Country will be held on 27 July at the Farmers Hall, Main Street, Samford Village from 9.30am.

The garage sale and mini fair is on at Samford Golden Valley Pony Club, Richards Road, Wights Mountain on 18 August from 8am.
